Big things are a brewin' at Homegrown Gravel Adventure

  • Let’s start with some news from last year’s event. Thanks to you all, we could make a sizable donation to the Heard County Food Pantry for $2,750.00 and smaller contributions to MTB Atlanta and the East Point Track Club. Without your support, this would not be possible. Our goal this year is to triple that amount. After talking with the Food Pantry, reaching $9600 in donations would cover their yearly average food expenses.

  • Second, yes, we changed our name away from Border Wars. It was a decision we made ourselves and something we had been thinking about for a while. Homegrown Gravel Adventure better reflects the direction, mission, and attitude we want for the event. Hitting all the gnar on the border roads between Alabama and Georgia will always be the ride. The mental war between you, your legs, and the gravel will always be a big part of our focus.

  • We’ve been thinking about this a lot too. We’re proud to announce a $10,000 payout for the 100-mile event, split between the men’s and women’s categories. – Full details to follow, but it will be open for all 100-mile categories.

  • We upped the registration to 800 riders this year and 1000 for 2026.

  • Starting in 2025, separate start times for the men’s and women’s 100-mile event, with the 62-mile event starting over an hour later.

  • Also, this year, we added more overall categories for the 62 and 100-mile distances for more chances to win a handmade trophy from Grouchy Ass Pottery Studio, along with medals and other cool swag.

  • We listened to you, and many said 62 miles can be a lot this early in the year, but 30 was not enough. So, we’re adding a 10-mile loop option to the 30-mile route so you can pick and choose between a 30 or 40-mile fun ride.

  • Thursday Packet Pick-up Party at S&S Fire Pits: To all our Metro Atlanta peeps, we’re giving you Friday to rest up.

  • Friday Shake-out Ride and Packet Pick-up in Franklin: Details on ride times and route will be provided, but it’ll be about 20 miles starting in downtown Franklin. The course will be different than the Saturday course ’cause there is so much gravel to love around Franklin.

  • Sunday Morning Coffee Ride: Also, more details to come, but it’ll be a chill ride to loosen the legs and some strong coffee to help wake you up.

  • More Music. More Post-Ride Experience: We’re not going crazy with it, but we’re expanding the bike expo, market, and overall experience, including more bands, food, and space.

  • Enhanced Camping Experience: Let’s make a three-day weekend out of it. Last year was our first year with camping and we learned a few things. We’ll improve your experience with a more private area and more bathrooms, and we’re working on several shower solutions. More to come, but we have room for a lot of campers.

  • Finisher Mugs for the 100-mile riders: They won’t be custom from Grouchy Ass Studios, but they’ll be worthy of your big day out on the bike and branded Homegrown.

  • Finisher Patches for the 62 and 30-mile distances: Custom Homegrown embroidered patches for all who set a goal and made it happen.

But that’s not all for 2025. We’re not even close.

That’s already a lot of new for only $85, but wait, there’s more. ($70 if you hurry)

  • Homegrown Swag. For our second year, we are partnering with Eliel to bring you some very high-end cycling gear that is all Homegrown Gravel Adventure branded.
